Should I pay upfront or opt for a subscription?

We know pricing can be a bit of an obstacle...

Everyday items are becoming more costly, which can have an impact on everyone. The goal for our personal and business customers is to make our pricing affordable and most importantly, easy to interpret and understand, so you can opt for the pricing that fits around your needs best.

Some may choose to pay for their software upfront, while others may opt for subscriptions paid in monthly or annual instalments. Both of these methods are available on our online marketplace - let's explore these in a little more detail.

Perpetual (One Off Payment/Upfront) Subscription (Pay in Instalments)
Despite the weird name, this licensing model is quite common to come by! Put simply, this model involves a customer (i.e yourself, a business etc.) making a one-off payment upfront for the product or service and possibly an additional fee for extended support if any is provided. It'll be yours to keep and in most cases you wouldn't have to worry about it expiring. Along with paying upfront, some providers may provide access to warranties and limited support too. A model that's becoming increasingly popular. A customer is able to split their payments into often recurring instalments (or segments, however you wish to term it). It could be split into 3 equal payments, monthly, quartlerly, annually etc. An initial fee may be included as well but that depends on the provider. For software subscriptions the customer would be allowed to use it for a set term generally, so if it's for 12 months, they'll have access to it for that period unless they decide to renew.
